Customize! Customize!

It has been a very busy summer for us which has made it difficult to keep up on our blog. So for those of you who look for updates, we apologize. The good thing in this is that I come to you to tell you about customization! We take great pride in that we can turn an ordinary piece into something spectacular for your home.

*This cupboard was brought to us by a customer who has purchased our products before. She found this in an antique shop in Westport, CT. The size and function fit her needs perfectly, however, the finish didn't. So she contacted us! We finished it in our New England Red and added the shelving inside to make it work for her space.

We also had 2 customers contact us who wanted a variation of our 3' Bench... one who wanted it to be 4' and another who wanted it to be 2'. So we worked with both and now we are offering all 3 sizes as part of our regular product line.

While we make all our furniture, it is possible that we can not fulfill everyone's wishes. So we also work to find a perfect piece for our customers. Recently a customer asked us if we could locate a cupboard that would fit in a space in her home. So we went on a hunt for her and located a cupboard just for that spot. Here it is before we added the Cabinet Makers Blue which she requested. It will be beautiful!!

Custom Cookbook Holder

I had a customer contact me recently who loved our Cookbook Holder but was limited on counter-space in her kitchen. She asked me if we custom build a holder for her that would keep the design but be more space efficent. She gave me the dimensions she would need. She also wanted it to be able to have a holder for her pens and pencils, etc. It came out great! I am posting photos.

Keep in mind- we can always customize an item for you... we are also working on a Triple Door Jelly cupboard for a customer- a variation of our Double Door Cupboard. Stay tuned for pictures.

A Happy Customer

Here is our medicine cabinet which was custom made for a customer. She ordered it in the Colonial Green and although the picture doesn't show it, we only distressed it a little. The theme of her bathroom was Country Chic and so she didn't want too much of a primitive look going on. This is one of the advantages of working with us... as we can customize any of our pieces to work in your space.

A Crazy Winter

This year in New England, we have had record snow storms. Almost everyone, except the guys who plow your driveway, are complaining. I, instead, have chosen to enjoy the beauty of the season and look at the spectacular creations formed from ice and snow.

A New Beginning

As I sit here and write in my blog for the first time, I am captivated by excitement. For this blog is the beginning for me in my new career. I have been a mom, a wife, a teacher, a friend, a sister and a daughter for my now almost 49 years. I have supported all those important in my life in their new ventures and now it's my turn! For this reason, I am excited.

PHP Home Decor~ came as a result of my business, Poverty Hollow Primitives which I share it with my husband. It came when we saw the need in hold on to what is old in today's society. Our passion for what is old developed into what our business is today. Poverty Hollow Primitives brings a style of Country Primitive furniture and accessories featuring an 18th and 19th Century Reproduction Design. Each piece is handcrafted by my husband in our workshop in Newtown, Connecticut. Together, we finish each piece entirely inside and out giving it an antique finish of earlier centuries.

Our products include handcrafted decorative checkerboards, candle trays, decorative home signs, and trunks. Furniture includes double door-jelly cupboards, single door jelly cupboards, chimney cupboards, wall shelves (single and double), as well as a unique design tombstone shelf and benches of various sizes. In addition to the interior pieces, we bring some crafted items for the garden/outdoor décor. More recently we have expanded our line to include refinished old pieces using our unique painted finish.

PHP Home Decor~ is a branch off the main business and will have many aspects. Home parties~ Decor Consultations~and Decorating tips and projects will be posted in my blog. I am excited for this new beginning and I hope that you will share in it with me. Leave me your suggestions!

And of course, if you want to book a party and get some really great items for your primitive style home- Email me!

Primitive Blessings,

Amy
